Hotel Guidi
L’Hotel Guidi si trova lungo la via d’acqua che unisce Mestre e Venezia. Il canale è stato realizzato agli inizi del ‘300 dalla Serenissima che, interessata a procurarsi un efficiente scalo portuale in terraferma, delibera la realizzazione della “Fossa Gradeniga”, oggi nota come “Canal Salso”.
Hotel Guidi is located along the waterway that connects Mestre and Venice. The canal was built at the beginning of the 14th century by the Serenissima Republic which, interested in procuring an efficient port on the mainland, decided to build the “Fossa Gradeniga”, now known as the “Canal Salso”.

L’Hotel è facilmente raggiungibile dalle autostrade e dall’aeroporto, e dista solo 15 minuti di autobus da Venezia. La nostra struttura è vicinissima al centro storico di Mestre ove si trova la catatteristica “Piazza Ferretto”, all’ “M9” il nuovissimo museo multimediale ed interattivo della storia sociale del ‘900; a “Forte Marghera” , l’ex campo trincerato di Mestre circondato da canali ed aree verdi, che ospita oggi numerosi ristorantini all’aperto; ed infine al Parco San Giuliano, grandissima area verde urbana, posta sulla gronda lagunare, che in ottobre è centro logistico della celebre Venice Marathon.

The Hotel is easily accessible from the motorways and the airport, and is only 15 minutes by bus from Venice. Our structure is very close to the historic center of Meste where the characteristic “Piazza Ferretto” is located, at the “M9” the brand new multimedia and interactive museum of the social history of the 1900s; to the “Forte Marghera”, the former entrenched camp of Mestre surrounded by canals and green areas, which now houses numerous outdoor restaurants; and finally to the San Giuliano Park, a huge urban green area, located on the lagoon eaves, which in October is the logistics center of the famous Venice Marathon.
I lavori sono ultimati verso il 1360 : da San Giuliano sul bordo lagunare, il canale procede fin quasi all’odierno Centro Le Barche, dove ancora terminava ad inizio Novecento. Per secoli il Canal Salso rappresenta la principale via d’acqua nelle comunicazioni tra Venezia, la terraferma e il porto delle Barche, la testata di terraferma, centro attivissimo di traffici, cuore del borgo omonimo, la parte più popolare di Mestre, universo variopinto e vivacissimo di barcaioli e gondolieri, facchini e carrettieri, artigiani, osti e bettolieri.
The works were completed around 1360: from San Giuliano facing the lagoon, the canal proceeds almost to today’s “Centro Le Barche”, where it still ended at the beginning of the twentieth century. For centuries the Canal Salso represented the main waterway for communications between Venice, the mainland and the port of the “Barche”, the head of the mainland, a very active center of traffic, the heart of the village of the same name, the most popular part of Mestre, universe colorful and lively of boatmen and gondoliers, porters and carters, craftsmen, hosts and waiters.
